Dionyx

Dionyx, the queer student organisation of Maastricht
Welcome to Dionyx, the queer student organisation of Maastricht! Since 2016, Dionyx has provided a welcoming space specifically for open-minded LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, and more) students and young people aged 18–30 in Maastricht.

We organise a variety of social activities and events, including monthly theme parties, movie nights, debates, workshops, and excursions. Our activities primarily take place at Café Rosé or at the COC Limburg building (Bogaardenstraat 43, Maastricht).

Our goal is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where queer students can feel comfortable, meet new friends, and discuss issues that matter. We also actively promote awareness and acceptance of LGBTQIA+ topics throughout Maastricht’s diverse student community.

History of Dionyx
Dionyx started in January 2016. Recognising the need for greater LGBTQIA+ representation and community in Maastricht and Limburg, a dedicated team of students and volunteers from Maastricht University, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, and COC Limburg came together to bring Dionyx to life. Since then, our volunteer team has grown, and our activities have expanded significantly.

Why Dionyx matters
Maastricht and Limburg have large, diverse student communities, including many international students. Dionyx provides a much-needed platform for social interaction, education, and awareness, breaking down barriers and reducing loneliness among queer students. Through our events, workshops, and discussions, we create spaces where students can thrive, connect, and make a difference.
